LOGGIAonFIRE relaunches with new layout and features

Much to the dismay of the adults in the room and sober utopians worldwide, loggiaonfire.com has been reimagined, remanufactured and redeployed for the reading pleasure of cretins and miscreants of all description. Once the favorite online magazine of John McAfee, this site began as the home of "Vote The Protest" in 2015 before evolving into "Loggiaonfire Magazine" and, now, LOGGIAonFIRE. This latest transition brings a couple of new features and gimmicks, but the watchwords remain the same: freedom, privacy, technology and culture. The site is free for everyone to read and enjoy (or not enjoy) with no paywalls. No data is collected from users, and "ads" are served locally and not monitized.

The new layout features several sections of original content, not available anywhere else. 'Thoughts' contains original articles by me, Rob Loggia, on a variety of topics. 'Guests' features original articles written by others but exclusively published here. The 'Archive' is a showcase of some of the projects, campaigns and media I have been involved in. The 'Reliquary' is a new section that will display images and information about old documents, artifacts and other historical curiousities I have acquired over the years.

The Reliquary is something I have planned for a while, but that was difficult to execute using the old platform. I consider the study of history to be both fascinating and important, and I am pleased to make what small contribution as I am able to the preservation of our human story. Most of the items I've collected are trivial, but I maintain that they are still a part of this story and therefore still interesting. A few appear to be historically relevent, and will receive more time and attention. I will strive to offer at least some small comment on every exhibit, explaining points of interest or filling in some of the context.

Another new addition is the archive. While I have operated in public for quite a while, I have run in small circles and I don't expect most people to know who I am. Robert Loggia, yes. Most people should know who Robert Loggia was. Rob Loggia... not so much. The Archive is designed to highlight some of what I've done and help give visitors some background as to who I am. My resume is all over the chart, and a simple bio paragraph just doesn't seem feasible without leaving a lot out.

I was actually surprised as I scoured my hard drive and surveyed nearly 10 years of work. I try to keep moving, so I am somewhat insulated to the effect of watching projects and activities pile up. I wasn't prepared for just how much I had that was worth mention here. As I wanted to launch the site sooner rather than later, I selected 10 projects to start with, and have written a little bit about each, including links to online residue when it i available. My hope is to add over time to this section, documenting some of my other endeavors and adding to the items already posted. For now, I think what is there gives a good sketch of who I am, and the kind of work I do.

The new layout also has a few gimmicks to give visitors more to look at. Content from some of the cultural cut-up projects I've done are distributed throughout the site. To start, there is Motivational...ish on the front page, and Reiku Haikus on every page. Both are provisioned from pools large enough to ensure that the content in these sections is never stale. This content will be rotated regulary and randomized evey time the site is uploaded. Some are horrible, but some are actually quite good and manage to be insightful or funny in some way.

Motivational...ish

Most important, however, is the overhaul of the software servicing the site. Many sites use platforms like Wordpress to simplify publication. This site started on Wordpress, but moved to generated static html to be able to serve substantially more users simultaneously. The new layout is still generated static HTML, but the off-server back end is much more powerful and includes a UI interface. This should allow me to focus more on actual content, much in the same way that Wordpress would.

Reiku Haiku

I admit that LOGGIAonFIRE certainly won't appeal to everyone. I understand that, and I am fine with it. It is my pleasure to serve the small segment of the human population that finds value in at least some of my work, or the work of my guest authors. I know they're out there, and I appreciate them. I even hear from one of them from time to time, usually accompanied by an admonishment to publish more often. We'll see what happens, but I am excited to jump back into this, and have some pretty cool things planned to build out even further. Thanks for reading, and enjoy the new site!
